Two ways we collect

DMW provides specimen-collection services. We do not independently order laboratory testing, diagnose conditions or provide medical interpretation of laboratory results.

Lab order collection

  • You bring a current outside lab order

  • DMW performs the blood draw

  • DMW handles delivery or drop-off of the specimen to the appropriate laboratory

Client-supplied kit collection

  • You bring the complete kit and its collection instructions

  • DMW performs the required collection

  • Afterward, DMW can handle the kit according to its handling or shipping instructions, or you may take the completed kit if the kit allows client-managed shipping

What to bring and how to prepare

Preparation depends on the test ordered. Follow the instructions from your ordering provider, laboratory or kit.

With a lab order

  • Your current lab order

  • A valid photo ID

  • Any preparation instructions from the ordering provider or laboratory

With a collection kit

  • The complete, usable kit

  • All forms included with the kit

  • The kit’s collection and shipping instructions

  • A photo ID when required

Common questions

Do I need a lab order?

Yes, or a client-supplied collection kit. General blood draws require a current outside lab order or a complete kit with its instructions. DMW does not order laboratory tests.

Can DMW collect a specialty kit?

Yes. Bring the complete kit with all included forms and its collection and shipping instructions, and we’ll perform the collection the kit requires.

What happens to my specimen after collection?

With a lab order, DMW delivers or drops off the specimen at the appropriate laboratory. With a kit, we handle it according to its instructions, or you may take the completed kit if it allows client-managed shipping.
