THE PROGRAM
One program. Two AHA course families.
One combined instructor pathway prepares you to teach American Heart Association courses for healthcare providers (BLS) and the general public (Heartsaver).
Your $400 tuition includes:
BLS Provider training and BLS eCard, if you need it
AHA Instructor Essentials coursework
Required instructor manuals and materials
DMW hands-on instructor classroom training
Training Center alignment through DMW, unless your employer or organization already provides it
Required monitoring support
Instructor eCard/status processing through the Training Center after all AHA requirements are successfully completed

Basic Life Support for healthcare providers and students in healthcare programs.

Pediatric First Aid CPR AED
For childcare providers, educators, coaches and parents who care for infants and children.

Heartsaver CPR AED
CPR and AED skills for workplaces, community groups and people without a healthcare role.

Heartsaver for K-12
The AHA Heartsaver program designed for K-12 school settings — teachers, staff and students.

Heartsaver First Aid CPR AED
First aid together with CPR and AED for workplaces and organizations that require it.

Renewals & skills sessions
Renewal courses and hands-on skills sessions, including blended-learning skills checks, where permitted by AHA.
Course availability and authorization are determined by the American Heart Association and your aligned Training Center. DMW does not issue AHA instructor status on its own.
BEFORE YOU ENROLL
What You’ll Need
These AHA instructor requirements apply to every candidate. DMW will review them with you before your classroom training.
Current AHA BLS Provider Card
A current AHA BLS Provider card is required as part of the instructor pathway. If you don’t already have one, DMW includes the required BLS Provider training and eCard in your $400 package.
Training Center Alignment
DMW will align instructor candidates with our AHA Training Center unless you’re coming through an employer or organization that already has Training Center alignment.
Instructor Candidate Paperwork
Required AHA instructor candidate paperwork must be completed as part of Training Center acceptance.
AHA Instructor Essentials
AHA Instructor Essentials requirements apply, including the online coursework and the hands-on instructor-training session.

HOW IT WORKS
Your Path to Teaching
Requirements are set by the American Heart Association and may change. Current AHA guidance requires successful monitoring within six months. DMW will confirm your exact steps at enrollment.
STEP 01
Meet the Prerequisites
Hold a current AHA BLS Provider card and meet applicable AHA and Training Center requirements. If you need your BLS Provider card, it’s included in your package.
STEP 02
Training Center Acceptance & Candidate Paperwork
Be accepted by and aligned with an AHA Training Center and complete the required candidate paperwork. DMW aligns candidates with our Training Center unless your employer already provides alignment.
STEP 03
Complete Instructor Essentials
Complete the required AHA Instructor Essentials online coursework and the hands-on instructor-training session with DMW.
STEP 04
Complete Monitoring
Successfully complete the required course monitoring with appropriate AHA Faculty within the required timeframe. DMW provides monitoring support.
STEP 05
Complete Instructor Status Requirements
Instructor status and eCard issuance are completed through the accepting AHA Training Center after all requirements are successfully met.

Before you enroll
Who can enroll?
Anyone who wants to teach AHA BLS and Heartsaver courses and can meet the AHA instructor requirements, including a current BLS Provider card (included in your package if you need one) and Training Center alignment.
Do I need a current BLS Provider card?
Yes. A current AHA BLS Provider card is required as part of the instructor pathway. If you don’t already have one, DMW includes the required BLS Provider training and eCard in your $400 package.
Does completing the class automatically make me an AHA Instructor?
No. The classroom training is one step. You must also complete Training Center acceptance and candidate paperwork, AHA Instructor Essentials and successful monitoring. DMW does not independently grant AHA instructor status; final instructor status and card issuance are completed through the aligned AHA Training Center after all requirements are met.
What happens after classroom training?
You complete the required course monitoring with appropriate AHA Faculty. Current AHA guidance requires successful monitoring within six months. DMW provides monitoring support, and once all requirements are met, the Training Center processes your instructor status and eCard.
